“JACK BURKE DAY” PROCLAIMED BY CITY COUNCIL

July 9, 2019 (Orange) – Junior-to-be and 4A State Golf Champion Jack Burke (above) was honored by Mayor Spears and the Orange City Council, as they proclaimed July 9th as “Jack Burke Day”. Burke was also recognized by Congressman Brian Babin’s office at the meeting.
BURKE COMPETES IN NATIONAL INVITATIONAL
June 27-28, 2019 (Orlando, FL) – Jack Burke received an invitation to play in the NHSGA National Invitational at Walt Disney World Resorts after winning the 4A State Championship. Burke shot a 78/79-157 at the two-day tournament held on the Palms & Magnolia Courses in Orlando.

June 4, 2019 (Beaumont) – The 2019 Babe Didrikson Zaharias Golf Awards banquet was held at Lamar University’s Montagne Center. This year LC-M had three players nominated. Freshman Montana DiLeo was nominted for the Female Player of the Year, Sophomore Jack Burke was nomiated for both the Boys Player of the Year and the Citizenship Award, and Senior Jack Tindel III was nominated for the Citizenship Award. Burke was named the Boys Player of the Year. The awards have been a highlight of the year for area golfers for several years. Former LC-M golfers Brooke Brasseaux and Lauren Cox both won the Female Player of the Year award and James Walker was a Citizenship Award winner.
BURKE FINISHES IN TOP 10 AT TEXAS MASTERS
May 25-27, 2019 (San Antonio) – Fresh off winning the 4A State Championship, Jack Burke (pictured above) shot a 3-under/210 at the 2019 Texas Masters/IMG World Qualifier. Rounds of 70-67-73 put Jack in a tie for 8th in the 103 player field at legendary Brackenridge Park in San Antonio. He is now ranked #15 in Texas and nationally ranked at #49.
BURKE CAPTURES STATE TITLE – TEAM 12TH

May 20-21, 2019 (Kyle) – After winning the 22-4A Distict Individual Championship and the 4A Region III Individual Championship, Jack Burke made it a clean sweep by winning the 4A State Individual Championship. Burke fired a 71-70/141 to win by two-strokes. The Bears as a team finished 12th overall capping of an amazing year becoming only the third LC-M Boys golf team to reach the State tournament.

BURKE WINS REGIONAL TITLE – TEAM 3RD & HEADED TO STATE
Sophomore Jack Burke fired a 72-75/147 to capture the 4A Region III Individual Championship. Burke is only the second boy golfer in school history to win a Regional Golf Championship. Jack is pictured with (L) Miller Harris (75-78/153 – 2nd) of Carthage High School and (R) Corbin Conradt (75-80/155 – 3rd) of Lorena High School.
The Bears were all smiles after finishing 3rd in the team division and qualifying for State at the 4A-Region III Tournament at Raven Nest GC in Huntsville. It is only the third time in school history that the Bears have qualified as a team for the State tourney.

BURKE CLAIMS SECOND STRAIGHT DISTRICT TITLE
April 1 & 3, 2019 (Beaumont) – The Bears came up one stroke shy of claiming their fourth straight District title. Hardin-Jefferson edged out LC-M by a team score of 654 to 655. Both teams qualified for the 4A – Region III Tournament on April 24-25 in Huntsville. Sophomore Jack Burke (pictured above with Coach Williams) claimed his second straight individual District Championship firing a 71/73-144. Wyatt Wozniak, who had a hole-in-one on day one, finished with a 87/80-167. Rounding out the Bears scoring was Jack Tindel (85/85-170), Mason Sterling (84/90-174), and Travis Love (93/93-186).

Senior and 4-YR Letterman Jack Tindel has had an amazing four years for the Bears and now has the biggest tournament of the year left to play. Tindel has helped lead LC-M to 3-District Team Titles (2016-18), this years District Team Runner-Up finish, a District Individual Runner-Up (2017), 4-Regional Team Appearances (2016-19) and at the Regional tournament this year JT III and the Bears qualified for the 4A State tournament. It will be the third team appearance in LC-M history for the Bears at the State tournament.

April 2, 2019 (Beaumont) – Sophomore Wyatt Wozniak (above) started Round One of the District Tournament with a Hole-in-One on his first swing of the day. Wyatt aced the Par 3-17th hole at Henry Homberg GC.
BURKE FINISHES 2ND AT REGIONAL PREVIEW
March 22 & 23, 2019 (Huntsville) – The team travelled to Huntsville to test their game at the 2019 Regional Preview. The tournament gives teams a good idea how they will stack up against the competition if they qualify at their District Tournament and make it to Regionals. The Bears finished 7th in the 13-team field while Jack Burke played strong both days and finished 2nd overall individually. Scores for the Bears: Burke 75/73-148, Mason Sterling 85/88-173, Jack Tindel III 97/91-188, Wyatt Wozniak 107/90-197, and Travis Love 113/99-212.

March 1, 2019 (Beaumont) – The Bears double-dipped once again claiming the Larry Paine Memorial Tournament Title and Jack Burke won his second straight Larry Paine Individual Title (2018 & 19) . Burke led the Bears with a 73 followed by Wyatt Wozniak (82), Jack Tindel III (83), Mason Sterling (83), and Travis Love (92). LC-M finished with a 321, PN-G (2nd-323), and Hardin-Jefferson (3rd-337).

February 21, 2019 (Beaumont) – The Bears played solid golf and placed 2nd with a 315 (one shot behind PN-G) in the West Brook Varsity Invitational at Bayou Din GC. Sophomore Jack Burke led LC-M with a -1/70 to repeat as the Bruin Invitation Champion (2018 & 2019) followed by Mason Sterling (80), Jack Tindel III (81), Wyatt Wozniak (84), and Travis Love (92).

February 13, 2019 (Anahuac) – The team travelled to Anahuac to play in the Anahuac Varsity Invitational at Chambers County GC. The Bears placed 2nd with a 329 behind H-J (312) and Jack Burke took home 2nd indivdually with a -1/70. Bears scoring: Burke (70), Jack Tindel III (85), Mason Sterling (87), Wyatt Wozniak (87), and Tim Weaver (109).
BEARS SWEEP VIDOR INVITATIONAL
February 5, 2019 (Beaumont) – The Bears double-dipped winning the Team and Individual Titles at the Vidor Pirate Invitational at Brentwood CC. The team fired a 345 to win the tourney followed by Hardin-Jefferson (350) and PN-G (362). Jack Burke won the Individual Title with a 75 followed by Wozniak (88), Sterling (90), Tindel (92), and Love (98).

January 28, 2019 (Jasper) – The Bears headed north to play in the Jasper Bulldog Varsity Invitational at Rayburn Country GC. Hardin-Jefferson (333) won the tournament just nipping LC-M (335) by 2-strokes. Sophomore Jack Burke (above) won the tournament last year and picked his second Bulldog Invitational title (2018 & 19) with a dominating 10-stroke win. Burke fired an even par 71 followed by Mason Sterling (84), Jack Tindel (88), Wyatt Wozniak (92), and Tim Weaver (123).
BURKE INVITED TO AGGIE CUP
January 21-22, 2019 (College Station) – Jack Burke (above) accepted an invitation to play in the 2019 Aggie Cup. Burke finished T-17 after posting a 77/75-152. Austin-Westlake, Dallas-Highland Park, Allen, Lake Travis, Lubbock Cooper, and several of the states top golf “powerhouse” teams and individuals played in the two-day tournament in College Station at Traditions Club and Miramont CC.
BURKE WINS OPENER AT H-J INVITATIONAL
January 14, 2019 (Beaumont) – The Bears kicked off the season at the Hardin-Jefferson Invitational at Beaumont CC. LC-M finished 4th in the team division. Sophomore Jack Burke (above with Coach Bart Williams) picked up where he left of last season by winning the tournament. Burke finished with a 77 and won the tourney in a playoff with a birdie on the first playoff hole ove Kelly’s Collin Todora. Bears scoring: Burke (77), Mason Sterling (85), Jack Tindel (87), Wyatt Wozniak (104), and Travis Love (104).
COACH WILLIAMS INDUCTED INTO HOF
January 14, 2019 (Beaumont) – Coach Bart Williams was inducted into the Southeast Texas Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in the Spring on 2018. He was presented with his plaque prior to play at the H-J invitational.
