EIGHT LCM BASKETBALL PLAYERS RECOGNIZED

web

March 10 – Several basketball players from area schools who were selected to the THSCA All-Academic Team. Eight of those selection were from LCM. To be nominated for Academic All-State, a student must be: (1) an athlete, student trainer or manager in good standing with the team, (2) of good moral character, (3) a senior, (4) and have an overall grade point average of 92 or above (including courses from grades 9-11 and courses completed from grade 12). Weighted GPAs accepted. Please note all GPA’s must be numerical on a 100 point scale (92-100). GPA’s under 92 will not be considered. While the student might initially meet the criteria for nomination, that does not guarantee the student a spot on a team. Nominations may be submitted by any coach of the prospective sport as long as the head coach of that sport is a current member of THSCA. If head coach is not a member, nomination will be deemed ineligible. When reviewing the nominations, the THSCA considers each students’ GPA, class rank, SAT and/or ACT score. The students receive points based on each criteria. The total number of points they receive determines which team they are placed on. The classification of the school is not a factor, and there’s not a limit on how many players can make a team. The best team a player can make is the Elite Team which requires a near perfect score in all categories. After Elite comes the following teams: 1st Team, 2nd Team, and Honorable Mention. The following LCM players selected are as follows: Keylie Washburn (2nd Team), Kaydence Coursey (Honorable Mention), John Goddard (2nd Team), Tucker Floyd (2nd Team), Dane Hawk (Honorable Mention), Jonah Fuller (Honorable Mention), and Tyler Newell (Honorable Mention).
