LADY BEARS DOWN LADY PIRATES

March 7 (Vidor) – Lady Bear Softball downed the Vidor Lady Pirates 4-1 Friday night. Ella Stephenson pitched another great game, giving up 0 hits, 3 walks, and striking out 6 in 7 innings. The Lady Bears tacked up 9 hits with Eden Frenzel going 2-for-4 with one double, Kendall Jones 2-for4 with a double, Lexis Moss 1-for-4 with a double and a RBI, Tessa Erickson 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jillian Brown went 1-for-4 and Ava White went 1-for-1. Keylie Washburn had a sacrifice fly to pick up one RBI. The Lady Bears are now 2-0 in district play and 15-4-1 overall and will face Lumberton Tuesday.
JV SOFTBALL HAS UNDEFEATED WEEK
March 7 – JV softball went undefeated this week through the first two games of district play and the last tournament of the season in Anahuac. Tuesday LCM downed WOS 15-0. On Thursday the Lady Bears beat Dayton 6-3 and Tarkington 8-2. Friday saw LCM defeat Vidor 10-2 Saturday saw wins vs Anahuac (12-2) and Hamshire-Fannett (12-6). The Lady Bears improve their overall record to 9-2 for the season and will be back in action vs. Lumberton next Tuesday.
VARSITY TENNIS COMPETES IN NEDERLAND TOURNEY
March 7 ( Nederland) – Varsity Bear Tennis competed in the Nederland Tournament Friday. The Bears had an outstanding showing and four Bears came away with medals. In the Boys Doubles A Division, Sam Barnes and Javan Prejean (above left) took 3rd place. In the Mixed Doubles A Division, Sarah Barnes and Jace Benton (above right) also took 3rd place.
BEAR IRON COMPETES AT REGIONALS
March 6 (Navasota) – Last night, Bear Iron Powerlifting lifted in Navasota at the Region 4 Division 2 regional meet. The team competed well with multiple lifters setting new PR's. The results are as follows: Carson Phelps (above right) - 1st Place 308 Lbs. Class. After overcoming some adversity, he earned his ticket to the state championship meet in Abilene. Carson also earned the Outstanding Bench Press on the Heavy platforms while also breaking the old regional bench press record by 35 pounds with a 550-pound bench press of his own. March 6 (Beaumont) – Battlin’ Bears JV Tennis Team competed in Beaumont Thursday. Ella Stark (above) competed in the Freshman Girls Singles bracket and came away with the 3rd place bronze medal.
STEPHENSON PITCHES PERFECT GAME IN WIN
March 4 (LCM) – Ella Stephenson (above) threw a perfect game in the Lady Bears 20-0 (3 innings) win over the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs Tuesday night. She faced 9 batters, allowed no hits, no walks and struck out 7. Eden Frenzel went 3-for-3, scored four times and had 2 stolen bases. Lexis Moss went 3-for-4 with a triple and a solo home run. She knocked in 6 RBI’s for the night. Kendal Jones went 2-for-2 with an in the park home run that brought in 3 RBI’s. Keylie Washburn went 2-for-4 with a double and 1 RBI. Jillian Brown went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Abby Sepulvado went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI’s. Erickson had a double with 2 RBI’s and Stephenson chipped in a single that drove in 1 RBI. The girls totaled 18 hits for the night and 9 stolen bases with Frenzel and Jones both picking up 2.

March 3 (Silsbee) – The Lady Bears Varsity golf team teed it up in the Silsbee Lady Tiger Invitational Monday morning at Silsbee Country Club. From L-R right are Aubrie Woods, Bella Ihle, Kolbi Fountain, and Paige McKee.
BEAR GOLF PLAYS IN BRIDGE CITY TOURNEY
March 3 (Orange) – The Bear varsity boys golf team played Monday morning at Sunset Grove Country Club in the Bridge City Cardinal Invitational. Maddox Manuel led the Bears with an 81 followed by Luke Levens (88), Landon Richards (89), Braden Wilson (95), and Keaton Jones (99). As a team, the Bears finished 5th in the 18 team field with a score of 353.
STRUWE SELECTED BEARS AOW
March 3 – Congratulations to sophomore Jakson Struwe for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Jakson is juggling between track & baseball right now, and making an impact on both teams. He competed in his first track meet last week and had quite the debut. With 14 schools in attendance and a massive amount of athletes participating, Jakson still managed to place in both events he was entered in. He finished 6th in the 100M Dash & 3rd in the 200M Dash, earning a bronze medal for the Bears.
LADY BEAR POWERLIFTERS EARN LADY BEARS AOW
March 3 – Congratulations to Karlee Cooksey, Gracelynn Smith, Kiari Walsten, and Alasia Allen for being selected as the LCM Lady Bears Athletes of the Week. At the Region IV Powerlifting Meet, Karlee, Kiari, & Alasia each placed 2nd in their weight class, and Gracelynn placed 1st in her weight class. With these finishes, they have all qualified for the THSWPA Powerlifting State Championship on March 13th & 14th.
LADY BEARS FINISH 5-1 IN FRANKLIN TOURNEY
March 1 (Franklin) – The Lady Bears finished an impressive 5-1 in the Franklin tournament. For the tournament, Eden Frenzel and Lexis Moss (above) both racked up 10 hits a piece. Frenzel scored 9 times and stole 6 bases and knocked in 2 RBI’s. Moss hit 4 home runs along with 2 singles and 3 doubles and knocked in 10 runs scoring 7 times herself. Keylie Washburn finished the tournament with 7 hits. 1 single, 3 doubles and 3 home runs with 6 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases. LCM is 14-4-1 overall on the season.
FOUR LADY BEARS QUALIFY FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
March 1 (Bay City) – This past Thursday and Saturday the Lady Bear Iron Powerlifting team competed at Regionals in Bay City. All sixteen girls were able to total and lifted very well. As a result four girls were able to qualify for the THSWPA Powerlifting State Championships. Karlee Cooksey, Kiari Walsten, Alasia Allen, and Gracelynn Smith are competing at State on March 13th & 14th at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg. The individual results who medaled in their respective weight classes are as followed: Gracelynn Smith – 1st place, Alasia Allen – 2nd Place, Kiari Walsten – 2nd Place, Karlee Cooksey – 2nd Place, Madelyn Harding – 4th Place, and Irelynn Kyle – 5th Place.

TRACK & FIELD AT CARDINAL RELAYS – LADY BEARS TAKE SECOND
February 27 (Bridge City) – Bear Track & Field had a solid meet Thursday afternoon at the Cardinal Relays. Results for the Bears are as follows: Carson Phelps (2nd place in the Shot Put), Eddie Winters (5th place in the Discus), Isaac Pinder (5th place in the Pole Vault), Kamron Livingston (4th place in the 3200m), Jakson Struwe (3rd place in the 200m and 6th place in the 100m), Cazador Edgerton (5th place in the 800m), Lincoln Gaulden (4th place in the 110m Hurdles and 4th place in the 300m Hurdles), and Taylor Castenada (6th place in the 400m). In the relays, PJ Smith, J’Lynn Morris, KD Reed, and Jayden Johnson finished 5th in the 4x100. Smith, Morris, Reed, and Co’Ryan Kemp finished 4th in the 4x200. In the 4x400, Kemp, Edgerton, Reed, and Castenada finished 5th. The Lady Bears finshed second overall. Results are as follows: Paisley Angelle (1st place in the 100m and 300m Hurdles), Brianca Barclay (3rd place in the 200m Dash), Sarah Barnes (3rd place in the Pole Vault), Janet Le (2nd place in the Pole Vault and 100m Dash), Braxtyn McClain (2nd place in the 300m Hurdles), Kenzie Medina (6th place in the 3200m Run), Mallory Russell (5th place in the High Jump), Dinah Tippins (1st place in the 200m Dash), and Allyson Welch (5th place in the 3200m Run and 6th place in the 1600m Run). In the 4x100 Relay, Le, Tippins, Barclay, and Maya Meadows placed 1st. In the 4x200, Le, Barclay, Meadows, and Cyra Johnson took 1st.

February 27 (Port Arthur) – The Lady Bear golf team took on Babe Zaharias Golf Course Thursday morning in the Nederland Lady Bulldog Varsity Invitational. LCM shot a team score of 456. As far as the girls district competition, the Lady Bears and finished behind Bridge City-A (388) and ahead of Lumberton (367), Bridge City-B (367), Jasper (479), and Silsbee (486).

WASHBURN OFFENSIVE MVP – SIX LADY BEARS NAMED ALL-DISTRICT
February 26 – The 2024-25 18-4A All-District honors were announced and the Lady Bears landed six on the team and senior Keylie Washburn was named the Offensive MVP. Eden Frenzel, Maya Meadows, and Mallory Russell were named 2nd Team. Emily Smith, Taylor Huckaby, and Aubrey Temple earned Honorable Mention.
