January 20 – Congratulations to junior Mallory Russell for being selected as the LCM Lady Bears Athlete of the Week. Against Jasper, Mallory set the pace for the Lady Bears by contributing 11 points and several assists in their 58-41 victory. She also led the team in scoring against Bridge City with 13 points.

December 30 – Congratulations to senior Keylie Washburn for being selected as the LCM Lady Bears Athlete of the Week. In the East Chambers Holiday Classic, Keylie helped lead the Lady Bears to a 3rd place finish in the Gold Bracket. She averaged 21 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.5 steals, and was named to the All-Tournament team. Amidst her stellar play, Keylie also reached the impressive milestone of exceeding 2000 career points.

December 29 (Winnie) – The Lady Bears (19-5, 2-1) took part in the three-day East Chambers Tournament and came away 2-2. LCM fell to Woodville Thursday. Keylie Washburn (above) went over the 2000 point mark for her career (on her birthday) as she scored 17 points in the loss to the Lady Eagles. Friday saw the Lady Bears take two wins as they cruised past Evadale 49-28 and won easily over Vidor 52-30. Saturday the Lady Bears fell to Hamshire-Fannett 47-38.

LADY BEARS PLAY IN ROBINSON TOURNEY
December 14 – The Lady Bears played in the Robinson Varsity Tournament and came away 2-2 and moved their record to 16-3 on the season.. LCM opened the tourney with a 60-19 win over the Whitney Lady Wildcats Thursday night. On Friday, the Lady Bears lost a close one to the West Lady Trojans, 34-37. Keylie Washburn led the way offensively with 23 points while Maya Meadows and Eden Frenzel both finished with 4 points each. The Lady Bears bounced back with a big win over the Marble Falls Lady Mustangs, 41-34. The teams were tied at 29 heading into the final quarter before the Lady Bears pulled away by going on a 13-5 run. Keylie Washburn had 14 points and Eden Frenzel had 10 points in the win. On Saturday, LCM fell to the Concordia Lutheran Lady Crusaders 58-29 to close out the tournament. Keylie Washburn scored 10 points, Eden Frenzel finished with 9 points, and Lexi Wright had 4 points.

December 9 – Congratulations to sophomore Kendall Jones for being selected as the LCM Lady Bears Athlete of the Week. In the PNG Tournament this past weekend, Kendall averaged 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals per game. She also won the 3-point contest.
VARSITY LADY BEARS 5-0 IN PNG TOURNEY
December 7 (PNG) – The Varsity Lady Bears (14-0, 1-0) had a great weekend going 5-0 in the PNG Tournament. They defeated PNG 39-26, Nederland 39-14, Liberty 35-24, Buna 47-29, and WOS 42-22. The JV competed in the Deweyville Varsity tournament this weekend. Freshman Madi Scott (below) was voted to the All Tournament team.

Keylie Washburn lead LCM (9-0, 1-0) with 12 points, Kendall Jones had 9 points, Eden Frenzel finished with 7 points, and Emily Smith (above) and Taylor Huckaby added 6 points each. The JV, led by Aliviah Jasso (11 points) and Haylynn Trosclair (9 points), won 41-16.

November 26 – The Lady Bears (7-0) started the Thanksgiving Break Monday morning with a 40-35 win over the East Chambers Lady Bucs. Keylie Washburn led the way with 23 points along with several rebounds and steals. Maya Meadows had 6 points and Eden Frenzel (pictured above) finished with 4 points. The JV lost a close one 25-23. Madi Scott had 7 points and Aliviah Jasso had 6 points. On Tuesday, LCM (8-0) cruised past the Huffman Lady Falcons 60-38. Washburn lead the way again with 22 points, Maya Meadows had 14 points, and Eden Frenzel and Taylor Huckaby each scored 8 points. The Freshman got the win 18-12. The JV lost 27-36. Halynn had 9 points and Makayla Dougharty had 6 points.

In these two matchups, she had an outstanding average per game of 22.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 12 steals.

June (LCM) – The Lady Bears Basketball program will have a new head coach for the 2024-25 season. Carmichael Wiley (above), who was the assistant Lady Bear Basketball coach last year, is taking over as head coach after Eddie Michalko’s retirement. Wiley has a history in education, having taught at Yoe High School as a Financial Math and Dual Credit teacher before coming to LCM to be a Special Education Inclusion Teacher. He has many years of experience on the basketball court.
