LADY BEARS DOWN LADY PIRATES

March 7 (Vidor) – Lady Bear Softball downed the Vidor Lady Pirates 4-1 Friday night. Ella Stephenson pitched another great game, giving up 0 hits, 3 walks, and striking out 6 in 7 innings. The Lady Bears tacked up 9 hits with Eden Frenzel going 2-for-4 with one double, Kendall Jones 2-for4 with a double, Lexis Moss 1-for-4 with a double and a RBI, Tessa Erickson 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jillian Brown went 1-for-4 and Ava White went 1-for-1. Keylie Washburn had a sacrifice fly to pick up one RBI. The Lady Bears are now 2-0 in district play and 15-4-1 overall and will face Lumberton Tuesday.
JV SOFTBALL HAS UNDEFEATED WEEK
March 7 – JV softball went undefeated this week through the first two games of district play and the last tournament of the season in Anahuac. Tuesday LCM downed WOS 15-0. On Thursday the Lady Bears beat Dayton 6-3 and Tarkington 8-2. Friday saw LCM defeat Vidor 10-2 Saturday saw wins vs Anahuac (12-2) and Hamshire-Fannett (12-6). The Lady Bears improve their overall record to 9-2 for the season and will be back in action vs. Lumberton next Tuesday.
STEPHENSON PITCHES PERFECT GAME IN WIN
March 4 (LCM) – Ella Stephenson (above) threw a perfect game in the Lady Bears 20-0 (3 innings) win over the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs Tuesday night. She faced 9 batters, allowed no hits, no walks and struck out 7. Eden Frenzel went 3-for-3, scored four times and had 2 stolen bases. Lexis Moss went 3-for-4 with a triple and a solo home run. She knocked in 6 RBI’s for the night. Kendal Jones went 2-for-2 with an in the park home run that brought in 3 RBI’s. Keylie Washburn went 2-for-4 with a double and 1 RBI. Jillian Brown went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Abby Sepulvado went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI’s. Erickson had a double with 2 RBI’s and Stephenson chipped in a single that drove in 1 RBI. The girls totaled 18 hits for the night and 9 stolen bases with Frenzel and Jones both picking up 2.
LADY BEARS FINISH 5-1 IN FRANKLIN TOURNEY
March 1 (Franklin) – The Lady Bears finished an impressive 5-1 in the Franklin tournament. For the tournament, Eden Frenzel and Lexis Moss (above) both racked up 10 hits a piece. Frenzel scored 9 times and stole 6 bases and knocked in 2 RBI’s. Moss hit 4 home runs along with 2 singles and 3 doubles and knocked in 10 runs scoring 7 times herself. Keylie Washburn finished the tournament with 7 hits. 1 single, 3 doubles and 3 home runs with 6 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases. LCM is 14-4-1 overall on the season.
LADY BEARS DOWN HAMSHIRE-FANNETT
February 25 (LCM) – The Lady Bears defeated the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Horns 7-0 in 7 innings Tuesday night. Keylie Washburn was on fire at the plate going 3-for-3 with two singles and 3-run home run. Tessa Erickson went seven no-hit innings, giving up 0 hits, walking three, and striking out four. The Lady Bear defense was lights out as well with 26 total chances, 5 assists, 21 put outs, and 0 errors. Frenzel went 2-for-3, Woodson went 1-for-2 with a double, and Erickson went 2-for-4. Moss, Jones, and Brown each picked up a hit. The Bears are now 9-3-1 and will travel to Franklin for the last tournament of the year Thursday.

February 24 – Congratulations to senior Lexis Moss for being selected as the LCM Lady Bears Athlete of the Week. In the Sweeney Tournament, Lexis went 7 for 14 at the plate with 3 doubles, 3 homeruns, and 11 RBI's. Defensively, she had 8 put outs & 1 assist with 0 errors.
LADY BEARS GO IMPRESSIVE 4-0-1 IN SWEENY TOURNEY
February 22 (Sweeny) – The Lady Bears had an impressive showing at the Battle of the Best tournament in Sweeny going 4-0-1 over the three day tournament. On day one LCM tied Columbia 6-6 in Game 1. Tessa Erickson led the way going 2-for-3 with 1 RBI. Frenzel, Jones, Moss (double with 1 RBI) and Brown all each had a hit. In Game 2 the Lady Bears downed Sealy JV 7-3. Ella Stephenson was the winning pitcher (2 earned runs, 1 BB, 2 K's, 5 hits). Jillian Brown led the way at the plate going 2-for-2 and driving in 1 RBI. Keylie Washburn went 1-for-2 driving in 3 RBI's (triple) while Jones, Moss, and Stephenson each had a hit. On day 2 LCM shutout Terry 15-0. Ella Stephenson got the win on the mound (0 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 4K's). Eden Frenzel went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and 1 triple. Lexis Moss hit two home runs knocking in 4 RBI's. Keylie Washburn was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI. Jillian Brown was 2-for-3, Abby Sepulvado went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI, Asia Woodson went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI's(double), and Tessa Erickson had 1 hit with 1 RBI. In game 4 LCM picked up a 6-2 win over Belleville. Tessa Erickson was the winning pitcher giving up 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 hits, 7 K's. Lexis Moss hit a double and 4 RBI's. Erickson went 2-for-2 with a triple and 1 RBI. Frenzel went 1-for-2, Jones was 1-for-2, and was Woodson 1-for-1. In game 5 on Saturday, LCM beat George Ranch 5-3. Ella Stephenson gets the win on the mound (1 ER, 3 hits, 4 BB, 3 K's). Moss went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double. Washburn went 2-for-3 with a double and 1 RBI. Asia Woodson went 1-for-2 with a triple and 1 RBI. Stephenson and Frenzel both had a hit with 1 RBI a piece and Brown went 1-for-2. The Lady Bears are now 8-3-1 and will face Hampshire Fannett on Tuesday in Hampshire Fannett.

February 15 (Baytown) – Lady Bear Softball started the year off strong by finishing their first tournament with 4 wins and 2 losses. As a team, the Lady Bears outscored their opponents 59-14, racking up 51 hits on the weekend, including 30 singles, 12 doubles, 4 triples, and 5 home runs. The Lady Bears were also quick on the bases, successfully stealing 18 bases in 19 attempts. Several Lady Bears contributed significantly to the offensive explosion. Eden Frenzel led the charge, going 7-for-11 with a triple, an in-the-park home run, 5 RBIs, and 4 stolen bases. Lexis Moss added power at the plate, going 8-for-15 with two doubles, two home runs, 8 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. Tessa Erickson was strong as well, going 8-for-16 with two doubles, a triple, and 2 stolen bases. Jillian Brown added consistency with a 6-for-12 performance, including three doubles and 5 RBIs. And Keylie Washburn rounded out the offense, going 4-for-10 with a double, a triple, two home runs, 7 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. Kendall Jones also contributed 4 RBIs of her own and 4 stolen bases. The Lady Bears were defensively solid as well, committing only 3 errors in 104 chances, which included turning a smooth triple play. On the mound, the Lady Bear pitching staff was dominant, facing 103 batters and allowing only 9 earned runs on 22 hits. Ella Stephenson led the way with 14 strikeouts, giving up 9 hits and 4 walks, while Tessa Erickson was also strong, striking out 6 and allowing only 8 hits and 3 walks. The Lady Bears will be back on the road next week, looking to keep their momentum going with a game versus Nederland on Tuesday and the Battle of the Best Tournament in Sweeny next weekend.
THREE LADY BEARS CELBRATE SIGNING DAY
February 5 (LCM) – It was Signing Day Wednesday afternoon in the Grove. Three Lady Bears were celebrated for signing to play softball at the college level next year. Lexis Moss (left) signed with Blinn while Keylie Washburn (Center) and Ella Stephenson (Right) both signed with Angelina.
