BEAR IRON COMPETES AT REGIONALS
March 6 (Navasota) – Last night, Bear Iron Powerlifting lifted in Navasota at the Region 4 Division 2 regional meet. The team competed well with multiple lifters setting new PR's. The results are as follows: Carson Phelps (above right) - 1st Place 308 Lbs. Class. After overcoming some adversity, he earned his ticket to the state championship meet in Abilene. Carson also earned the Outstanding Bench Press on the Heavy platforms while also breaking the old regional bench press record by 35 pounds with a 550-pound bench press of his own. LADY BEAR POWERLIFTERS EARN LADY BEARS AOW
March 3 – Congratulations to Karlee Cooksey, Gracelynn Smith, Kiari Walsten, and Alasia Allen for being selected as the LCM Lady Bears Athletes of the Week. At the Region IV Powerlifting Meet, Karlee, Kiari, & Alasia each placed 2nd in their weight class, and Gracelynn placed 1st in her weight class. With these finishes, they have all qualified for the THSWPA Powerlifting State Championship on March 13th & 14th.
FOUR LADY BEARS QUALIFY FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
March 1 (Bay City) – This past Thursday and Saturday the Lady Bear Iron Powerlifting team competed at Regionals in Bay City. All sixteen girls were able to total and lifted very well. As a result four girls were able to qualify for the THSWPA Powerlifting State Championships. Karlee Cooksey, Kiari Walsten, Alasia Allen, and Gracelynn Smith are competing at State on March 13th & 14th at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg. The individual results who medaled in their respective weight classes are as followed: Gracelynn Smith – 1st place, Alasia Allen – 2nd Place, Kiari Walsten – 2nd Place, Karlee Cooksey – 2nd Place, Madelyn Harding – 4th Place, and Irelynn Kyle – 5th Place.
BEAR IRON SET FOR REGIONAL MEET
February 24 – With the conclusion of the local powerlifting season, the LCM Bear Iron team looks forward to the Regional Meet in Navasota on Thursday, March 6th starting at 4:30 PM. Seven lifters qualified and they are: Aiden Snyder in the 123's, Isaac Pinder in the 165's, Dilon Cabrera in the 181's, Eddie Winters Wilhite in the 242's, Nathan Childress in the 275's, Cooper Smith in the 308's, Carson Phelps in the 308's.
LADY BEAR IRON SET FOR REGIONAL MEET
February 18 (LCM) – With the conclusion of the local powerlifting season, the LCM Lady Bear Iron team is set for the Regional Meet in Bay City on February 27th for the "Unequipped" division, and March 1st for the "Equipped" division. Seventeen girls qualified to compete at regionals, fifteen in the "Unequipped," and two in the "Equipped" division. The "Unequipped" lifters are: Alasia Allen, Faithlyn Allen, Makenna Baze, Karlee Cooksey, Zay'Audria Epps, Laken Hardy, Irelynn Kyle, Kaylan Moore, Cassandra Neville, Isabella Nicholas, Cailynn Nichols, Lanie Roff, Jaiden Romar, Kiari Walsten, and Victoria Young. The "Equipped" Lifters are: Madelyn Harding, and Gracelynn Smith.
POWERLIFTING WINS AGAIN
February 13 (West Orange) – Last night LCM Bear Iron competed in their final local meet before regionals at the West Orange-Stark Powerlifting Meet. Both Bear Iron and Lady Bear teams performed very well with multiple pr's being set, which in turn resulted in them both winning the boy's and girl's divisions. With the conclusion of the local meets Lady Bear Iron went 2 for 4 on meet wins and Bear Iron went 4 for 4 on meet wins. February 6 (Orangefield) – Bear Iron Powerlifting took 1st overall in both the boys and girls division at the Orangefield Bobcat Powerlifting Meet Thursday afternoon. Results for the Bears are as follows: Aiden Snyder (1st-123’s), Gunner Fry (2nd-123’s), Jaxson Phelps (2nd-148’s), Isaac Pinder (3rd-165’s), Dilon Cabrera (2nd-198’s), Eddie Winters-Wilhite (1st-242’s), Van Potter (4th-242’s), Nathan Childress (1st-275’s), Cooper Smith (5th-275’s), and Carson Phelps (1st-308’s). The boys' results were as follows: Aiden Snyder - 1st place in the 123's, Gunner Fry - 2nd place in the 123's, Jaxson Phelps - 2nd place in the 148's, Isaac Pinder - 2nd place in the 165's, Ryan Garcia - 5th place in the 181's, Eddie Winters Wilhite - 1st place in the 242's, Van Potter - 3rd place in the 242's, Nathan Childress - 1st place in the 275's, Cooper Smith - 3rd place in the 275's, Carson Phelps - 1st place in the 308's. Bear Iron also placed 1st in the meet as team. POWERLIFTING TAKES 1ST & 3RD AT SILSBEE MEET
January 16 (Silsbee) – Bear Iron powerlifting traveled to Silsbee for their first meet of the season. Both teams had a very strong showing. The Bears placed 1st overall while the Lady Bears placed 3rd.
