LAFFITE WRAPS UP SEASON AT REGIONAL TOURNEY
April 20 (Huntsville) - LCM Senior golfer Gavin Laffite (above with Coach Parker James) competed in the boys 4A Regional Golf Tournament at the Bearkat Course in Huntsville Wednesday and Thursday. Laffite finished off his LCM career with a two-day total of 207.
BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS TEE IT UP IN DISTRICT TOURNAMENT
March 28 (Beaumont) – The Bears and Lady Bears Golf teams competed in the District Golf Tournament at Henry Homberg Golf Course in Beaumont. Both teams placed third overall in the two-day tournament. Gavin Lafitte and Cassie Grizaffi qualified individually for the Regional tournament that will be played in Huntsville April 17th-20th at the Beakat Golf Course.
VARSITY & JV BEARS HIT THE LINKS
March 6 (Orange) – The Varsity Boy’s Golf team competed in the Bridge City Varsity Golf Invitational at Sunset Grove Country Club Monday morning. The Bears as well as many others struggled in tough conditions but competed well in preparation for the upcoming district tournament. Gavin Laffite led the Bears with a round of 91.
March 7 (Nederland) – The Boy's JV Golf team competed in the Nederland JV Invitational at Babe Zaharias GC. The team was led by Caleb Hamilton who finished with a round of 113. Hamiton has shown a lot of improvement throughout the season. Dystan Payne also made his high school tournament debut and competed well.
BEARS PLAY IN BULLDOG INVITATIONAL
February 28 (Port Arthur) – The Bear Varsity Golf team traveled to the Babe Zaharias Golf Course Tuesday morning to play in the Nederland Bulldog Varsity Golf Invitational. The Bears had their best performance of the season, shooting a team score of 376 to finish 10th in the 18-team field. Gavin Laffite and Cohen Arney both carded rounds of 87 to lead the way for LCM. Lance Hodgkinson fired a 100, Maddox Manuel shot a 102, and Peyton Johnson finished with a 116. The Bears have made a lot of improvement over the past few weeks and have just two tournaments remaining to polish up before the district tournament on March 27-28 at Henry Homberg Golf Course in Beaumont.
JV BEARS HIT THE LINKS
February 6 (Beaumont) – The Bears JV Boys Golf team competed in the Vidor Pirate JV Boys Golf Invitational at the Country Club of Texas (Brentwood GC) in Beaumont Monday morning. The Bears continue to show improvement each week, which is always the goal. Clay Darby led LCM with a round of 114. Noah Pervan shot a 119 and Caleb Hamilton carded a 122. The JV will tee it up again March 1st at Chambers County Golf Course in the Anahuac Panther JV Tournament.
BEARS OPEN SEASON AT PIRATE INVITATIONAL
January 31 (Beaumont) – The Bear Golf team battled not only a tough course, but battled through some very harsh weather conditions Tuesday morning in the Vidor Pirate Varsity Boys Golf Invitational held at the Country Club of Texas in Beaumont. LCM shot a team total of 428 in their opening tournament of the seasn with Gavin Laffite and Cohen Arney both shooting 100. Next week the Bears will head to Chambers County Golf Course to play in the Anahuac Panther Varsity Tournament.
FORMER BEAR HELPS TEAM TO TOURNEY WIN
October 11 (Dallas) – Former Bear Jack Burke helped his Texas State University Bobcats win the Tempest Collegiate Invitational this past week. Burke shot 72-70-73 for a total -1/215 in the three day tourney and finished 7th in the 63-player field. Texas State was in third place going into the final day but passed Rice University and South Alabama to get the victory. The Bobcats turned a 14-stroke deficit into a 4-shot win.
